My Disciples,
Yesterday, the Brothers and I were in the living room enjoying an afternoon sun break. Suddenly, we realized we were not alone. Someone else was sitting in the doorway to the room, soaking up a little sun himself.
It was Thomas! While we have occasionally seen Thomas come out during the day, he usually moves from one hiding spot to another, but now he was just sitting calmly in the doorway. Brother Henry said, “Hey! Junior Agent T! Why don’t you come join us over here?” Thomas got an annoyed look on his face and said, “What? Come all the way out there in the daylight!? And open myself up to potential wiener dog attack? Senior Agent H, I thought you would be more concerned about security!”
Brother Henry said, “Ummmm… yeah. You’re right Thomas. Why don’t you just stay over there and enjoy that spot of sun. I’ll make sure to keep an eye out for any wiener dogs coming your way, and Brother O and I will intercept them before they can reach you. Now just enjoy the sun, will you?” Thomas seemed pleased with that. He even relaxed a little and truly embraced the sunlight.
So Thomas is still progressing steadily toward shedding his fear. Well, not so much his fear of wiener dogs, but perhaps, in time, he will overcome that as well. In the meantime, it was just nice to see the little guy have a peaceful moment in the sun.
So Sayeth Otis
I gave a special version of the Versatile Blogger Award for pets and the humans that love them. Details are in my latest post. Congrats!
Thanks so much! 🙂
We have recovered enough from LDD to comment–Thomas, we think your whiskers could detect a weiner dog at 50 yards! They are loooooooong.
They really are, Katnip Lounge. Maybe that’s why he’s so worried about wieners. He can sense them a mile away!
We too noticed Thomas’ long, gorgeous whiskers! So good to see him out and about too.
The kid definitely has remarkably long ones, catsinwindows. 🙂
Oh Hooray for Thomas! It is good to see him enjoying the sunshine. I worry about him spending to much time in the shadows. Hitch thinks I worry to much but I personally spent over 6 months hiding under the HuMom’s bed. Coming out only after the household was asleep to wake HuMom gently to ask for treats. Hitch, even when he was in the world without walls never seemed afraid. Maybe because he came in from the cold while still a youngster? So, we hesitate to share some of the information that has come our way. We don’t want to alarm unnecessarily. We have come across a headline in a canine communication. It reads, DACHSHUND ADOPTS THIRD LITTER OF KITTENS!!!!
THE DAILY DISH
We have used the proper name for that division of the opposition in order to protect Agent T. We must also inform you that we have seen video of this disturbing occurrence. We sincerely hope we have done the right thing in bringing this to your attention.
Your loyal friends,

Hmmmmmm… perhaps some brilliant girl cat out there has found a way to control the minds of Dachsunds and make them raise kittens. At least that’s what we’ll tell Thomas. Otherwise he might completely lose his stuff if he hears this… 😉
Sir Thomas iz one handsum kittyboy fer shure!!!! Well done reeashurrin him he’d be safe!!! Sir Henry you iz a guud Brother fer shure!!!
Tell Sir Thomas he haz lushouz whiskaz…yow they drive diz kittygirl insane!!!
Yerz frum da Purrfect Pad, Nylablue xo
I told Thomas what you said about his whiskers and he got even more shy than usual, Nylablue. 😉
Bandit has Whiskers almost as long as Thomas’s. Selleck is jealous. They were both happy to see that he felt safe enough to enjoy the sunlight. Bandit, Selleck, and Their Person, Emily.
Selleck is jealous of the long whiskers? OK. I kind of am too. 🙂
Aw, yay! Someday we hope he lays full out in the sunshine with all you guys, but this is a great start! While it’s great being ‘as the shadow’ there’s a lot to be said for sun spots too! snuggles and hugs and purrs to all of you!
Thanks Andrea. He’s slowly coming along. 🙂
Big fan of Junior Agent T here. Left to me I’d train a camera lens on Thomas all the time 🙂
Thomas is a much less eager photo subject than the rest of us, DewdropDream. We’ll catch him when we can though. 😉
We think in the final picture, Junior Agent T came perilously close to nodding off in that little sunpuddle. We think one day soon the Sandman will overtake him as he bravely visits the Great Downstairs, and he will melt into a fur puddle and forget (momentarily) about those laughably-formed wiener dawgs.
I’m not sure if he almost fell asleep or if he just almost succumbed to SIS, Spitty. Either way though, I think you are right about him eventually melting into a fur puddle in the sun. 🙂
SIS?
Sunlight Incapacitation Syndrome
It’s great that Junior Agent T was able to come out and enjoy a bit of sun. Perhaps someday he’ll be out in the full sunlight with all of you, but he’ll do it in his own time.
I think he will, and definitely in his own time. Fortunately, the Guardians will love him whether he fully embraces them or not. 🙂
Aw, that was really nice to see.
Thanks Island Cats. We thought so too. 🙂
Bless him…baby steps to sun and safety…wonderful..and what beautiful weiner detectors (aka whiskers) 🙂
Yep, Fozzimum, he is making baby steps. It’s exciting to watch him slowly come out of his shell. 🙂
A rewarding and often sad thing it is to help these precious ones…but would not have it any other way 🙂
Thomas mum says you are one handsome moggie x
Thomas appreciates the compliment. 😉
The sun is shining and I am reading a lovely story like that – sometime life is just great!
I agree, Basil. 🙂
Yea! Jr A T got some sun puddle time and I bet he comes back for more, high paws! savannah
Yes! We are all very excited Savannah. 🙂
