I Think I Made A Bad First Impression

People and fur people who are Disciples of The Leader Otis,

It’s Thomas.

Sooooo… ummmm… I am kind of feeling a little bit embarrassed right now. Yesterday, The Guardians were interviewing a person that will be taking care of The Brothers and me when The Guardians are away for a few days. I uhhhh… well… I am really sorry to say that I sort of lost my stuff while they were here.

Thomas embarrassed

I did… I lost my stuff. How embarrassing.

Now, you are probably wondering, “How bad could it have been?” Well… remember how good I got at doing Mama Cat’s Flying Squirrel move? If not, here is a picture to remind you.

Thomas_flying_squirrel

This is me doing the Flying Squirrel move that Mama Cat taught me.

OK, now imagine me panicking, hissing as loudly as I can, running back and forth a few times, and then doing this move about four feet in the air, bouncing off the back of the cat caretaker as she was coming up the stairs toward me, landing at the bottom of the stairs, and then tearing off at full speed and not stopping until I was safely wedged into a pile of pillows in the bedroom closet in the basement. Yeah. That is how bad it could have been. To add insult to injury, as I was hiding in the closet Brother Henry poked his head in and said, “Dude… what happened? Did you see a 100 pound wiener dog or something?” I did not dignify that question with a response.

Thomas out.

I Tried Something New… And I Liked It!

People and fur people who are Disciples of The Leader Otis,

It’s Thomas.

In general, I don’t like change. Sure, sometimes change is good, like when the Guardians swept me up and brought me into The Promised Land, but for the most part even minor changes make me feel like I’m going to lose my stuff. And to be honest, when the Guardians brought me inside, I did lose my stuff! I even bit one of them, which I found out later is a HUGE no-no.

Anyway, despite my dislike for change, today I decided to try something new. Brothers Henry and Oliver are always going on about how comfy the couch is to sleep on. I’ve always preferred to sleep underneath the couch, but I have to admit I have been very curious about what it’s like up there on top. So I decided to go for it. When no one else was around I jumped up on the couch to see whether or not its comfiness had been exaggerated.

When no one was around, I decided to see if the couch was as comfy as the Brothers claimed.

My Time

People and fur people who are Disciples of The Leader Otis,

It’s Thomas.

Ummm… It’s been kind of a weird week, to say the least. First I get accused of being up to something in Kitty Valhalla, and then when we all go up to Kitty Valhalla to see what I haven’t been up to… well… on second thought, I would rather not talk about that. I would rather talk about how Brother Henry has been trying to horn in on my special time with the bigger Guardian. You see, every night and morning, while the bigger Guardian is brushing his teeth, I wait for him on the back stairs. When he is done, he comes out of the bathroom and gives me pets. For some reason, Brother Henry has decided that he should get pets at these times as well! It’s not fair! this is the only time I get pets! I make it clear to Brother Henry that this is MY time and he should wait until later for his pets.

For some reason, Brother Henry thinks he should get pets when I do. He is wrong.

Dereliction of Duty

Disciples of The Leader Otis,

Brother Henry here.

Soo… this morning Brother Oliver was supposed to write a blog post telling you that all of us, including Sir Thomas, have been steering clear of Kitty Valhalla since the strange incident the other day. Sir Thomas is actually playing dumb, acting like nothing happened and he’s just doesn’t want to hang out in Valhalla because he’s bored with it. Brother Oliver and I have been steering clear because, well, that pink, plushy freak makes us very uneasy. I mean, we’re pretty sure it’s not able to move on it’s own, but Thomas’s reaction to it is really making us wonder.

Anyway, when I noticed that no blog had been posted this morning, I went looking for Brother Oliver and this is how I found him:

Oliver on couch

This is what Brother Oliver was doing instead of blogging.

When I told Brother Oliver that this was a gross dereliction of duty, he chuckled a little bit and said, “Heh heh… you said ‘doody’…”. That’s when I smelled the catnip on his breath. I know this isn’t the first time one of us has shirked our responsibility to blog, but I really was expecting more from Brother Oliver, especially with the mystery that is still lingering about the events in Valhalla. I mean, that pink thing… it’s really creepy! I wish there was someway I could get that crazy grinning face out of my head! I… wait… hmmmmm… You know what? Maybe Brother Oliver actually has the right idea. If anyone needs me, I will be on the couch.

So Says Brother Henry

Attack of the Monster

Disciples of The Leader Otis,

Brother Henry here.

This morning I was napping up in Kitty Valhalla when I thought I heard a lady screaming. The sound seemed to be coming from the living room, so I ran downstairs and rushed in there to see what was going on. When I arrived, I saw Brother Oliver sitting on a big, poofy bed, and screaming at the top of his lungs.

Oliver Screaming

It wasn’t a lady screaming. It was Brother Oliver.

Return of the Night Stalker

Disciples of Otis,

Brother Oliver here.

Many months ago, when Leader Otis was still with us, He started feeling like He was being watched at night. I helped Him get to the bottom of the situation by setting up a special camera that could take pictures in the dark. When we looked at the photos, we discovered that we had a nightstalker, and his name was Thomas.

Thomas’s nocturnal adventures seemed to happen less frequently after that, perhaps because he knew he had been discovered. Even though he is no longer in The Shadows, he still likes to be as shadow when he is patrolling the house. Anyway, I became puzzled earlier this week when I woke up to discover a strange depression on the bed. It looked like someone had been laying there, but I knew it wasn’t Brother Henry or me because we had both been snuggling next to the Guardians all night. Once again I pulled out my special, night vision camera to investigate. I even rigged it so it would pan back and forth to cover the whole bed. The following photos were the result. Continue reading

A Photo Session With Thomas

My Disciples,

Brother Oliver managed to sneak his camera into Kitty Valhalla while the Guardians were trying to coax forth the True Spirit of Thomas. He is still a very timid kitty, and likely will continue to be for a long time, but with the help of a new mouse toy the Guardians have been able to help him come out of his shell now and then. Take a look. I think Brother Oliver’s photos speak for themselves.

A Trying Day for The Leader and Thomas

Brother Oliver

Brother Oliver

Disciples of Otis,

Brother Oliver here again. As you are aware, yesterday the Guardians rounded up Leader Otis and Thomas in the portable kitty jails and took them somewhere. Brother Henry and I figured that they were going to The Bad Place, and we figured right. About two hours after they left, they returned, but only Leader Otis was with them. They placed The Leader’s kitty jail in the middle of the living room and opened the door. The Leader exited, clearly shaken by His ordeal. Worried about Thomas, I pressed Him for answers, but He simply said, “I…I can’t Brother Oliver. Please don’t make Me relive it!”

Otis Returns

Only Leader Otis returned with the Guardians. I pressed Him for answers about what had happened, but he didn’t want to talk about it.

I Didn’t Mean to Petrify Him!

My Disciples,

Yesterday, I spent some time hanging out on the large cat tree with drawers in front of the windows.  At some point I must have drifted off, but when I awoke I was startled to find that a crunchy little bird had landed right next to me.  I couldn’t believe My eyes!

I woke up from My nap to find a little bird sitting right next to Me!

Trip To The Bad Place Part 1- Morning of Terror

My Disciples,

My instincts must have been off yesterday morning because before I even had the slightest inkling that I should run and hide, one of the Guardians had scooped Me up and closed Me in the portable kitty jail.  Next thing I knew, we were in the car, and My heart was racing because I just knew we were on our way to The Bad Place!

Otis in carrier

Suddenly, I found Myself in a car on the way to The Bad Place. I didn't even see it coming!

I should have had My guard up, because I knew the Guardians had noticed that I have been limping recently.  Whenever Brother Henry or I get sick or have pains, the Guardians always take us to The Bad Place.  That’s how we figured out that The Bad Place may not actually be so bad after all…but it’s still very scary to us so we still call it The Bad Place!

Anyway, sure enough, after driving for what seemed to Me like four days, the Guardian stopped the car and took Me inside The Bad Place.  I tried My hardest to be brave, but I’m ashamed to say I failed miserably.  The people at The Bad Place are always very nice to Me (except for when they take My temp-shure), but I smell so many other scared animals (including dogs!  Sorry Rumpy!) there that I just can’t calm Myself down.  Today, when one of the people at The Bad Place came in to check My svelteness, I hid in a shiny silver sink.

Otis in sink.

I'm not proud of it, but I hid in the darkest place I could find...the sink.

After being pulled out of the sink, placed on the svelteness checker and then <GASP> having My temp-shure taken, the Guardian pulled Me onto his lap.  I pushed My head into his coat and he held Me and made Me feel at least a little bit safer.  I wanted to claw My way all the way up his back under the coat, but he seemed to be against that idea.

Otis in coat

The Guardian tried to protect Me from the scariness, but I was still afraid.

The rest of the visit is kind of a blur.  I may have even blacked out at one point and I had a crazy hallucination that I was placed on a table for “radumographs” or something like that.  I’m not sure what a “radumograph” is, but it sounds pretty terrifying to Me.  Fortunatley, I eventually found Myself safely back in the portable kitty jail and on My way back home.  But having been gone so long (by this time I estimated at least a year had passed), would I even recognize home when I got there?  Would The Brothers recognize Me?  I had no idea what to expect, and that added to My already intense feeling of unease.

So Sayeth Otis
