Meowy Catsmas!

Disciples of Otis,

Brother Oliver here.

Since the Guardians put a sweater on me and antlers on Brother Henry, I figured it was only a matter of time before they dressed Thomas up to show his Catsmas spirit. And they did! They made him wear a Santa hat. Here’s the photo to prove it!

Thomas in Santa Hat

See! the Guardians dressed Thomas up too, so he shouldn’t have laughed at Brother H and me.

That’s right, Thomas had to wear something silly too! I bet he regrets laughing at Brother Henry and me now! Huh? What did you say Thomas? This never happened? I created the photo in what? “Photoshop”? What’s that? Is that a place you go to buy cameras? What did you say? If  you’re wearing a hat in the photo why are your ears showing? Uhhh… ummmm… well… clearly the hat had ear holes! Why are you laughing at me again? Never mind.

Meowy Catsmas everyone! From the Guardians, Brother Oliver Brother Henry, and Sir Thomas… who is definitely wearing a Santa Hat.

The Brothers’ Holiday Spirit

People and fur people who are Disciples of The Leader Otis,

It’s Thomas.

When I walked into the living room this morning I could not believe what I was seeing. Brother Oliver was wearing a Catsmas sweater! Before I even knew what I was doing, I started laughing out loud. He just looked so funny!

My Catsmas Surprise Didn’t Pan Out

Disciples of Otis,

Brother Oliver here. I thought it was the best idea for a Catsmas surprise ever. The Guardian had left the wrapping paper right there on the floor. It would be so easy!

Oliver and wrapping paper 1

It was going to be the best Catsmas surprise ever!

My plan was to wrap myself in the paper turning myself into a kitty shaped Catsmas present. I would then ask Brother Henry to put all of your addresses on the outside of the package and drop me in the mail. That way I would be dropped off at each of your houses and when you brought me inside I would burst out of the wrapping paper shouting “Merry Catsmas!”. When I got myself mostly wrapped, I told Brother Henry my plan, but I did not get the response from him that I expected.

When I was mostly wrapped, I told Brother Henry my plan. His response was unexpected.

Brother Henry was sitting on one of the Guardian’s laps nearby. I had expected him to get all excited when I told him what I was doing. I thought he would immediately jump down and help put my plan into action. Instead, he started laughing! He said, “Brother Oliver! That will never work! The mail people aren’t going to deliver you to hundreds of different people all over the world! Plus, you know very well that cats, dogs, and other animals should never be given as presents! What kind of message will it send if you arrive at people’s houses wrapped up in a package?”

Henry laughing

Brother Henry didn’t think my idea was very good.

Feeling a little deflated I said, “OK Brother Henry, then how do you suggest I wish all Disciples of Otis a Merry Catsmas?”, to which he replied, “Ummm… how about you just say it in the blog?” I admit, if kitties could blush, I would have. But I felt a little annoyed that Brother Henry was right, so I said, “Yeah, OK, that’s all well and good, but what do you suggest I do with this wrapping paper then? Should it just go to waste?” Brother Henry said, “Hmmm… well, no… I think you should ask Thomas what to do with it. I bet he’ll have a suggestion for you.” So I did ask Thomas… and he did have a suggestion.

At Thomas’s suggestion… I am the Wolf Eel

So, Merry Catsmas from the Wolf Eel, and all of the rest of us here at The Cult of Otis. May your day be filled with love, joy, and lots of kitties.

In Otis’s Name

A Holiday Greeting From A Special Friend

My Disciples,

This morning I was sound asleep in the Sacred Bed of Embigening, dreaming of chasing Thomas and The Brothers all around the house on a completely healed leg. As I laid there in snoozy bliss, I suddenly heard someone calling My name, repeatedly and with some urgency. They kept saying, “Leader Otis! Leader Otis! Hey! Leader Otis! Leeeeeeeeeeader Ooooooootis!” At first I thought it was part of My dream, like someone was cheering Me on while I was running or something, but then I woke up, and I could still hear it. “Leader Otis! Leader Otis! Hey!”

Otis awakened

I was sleepingin the Sacred Bed of Embigening when I was awakened by someone calling My name.

I laid there for a second, not wanting to get up, and the shouting stopped. Just as I was drifting back to sleep I heard, “Leader Otis! Leader Otis! Leader! Leader! Leader! Otis!” It was no use. I had to get up and see where the voice was coming from. I followed the sound over to the window on the side of the house. I looked out and saw Mama Cat sitting in the window next door shouting “Leader Otis!”. As soon she saw Me, she fell silent and just looked at Me.

Mama Cat on Christmas

Mama Cat was the one yelling My name. When she saw Me she just looked at Me.

I waited for a second, and then I said, “Yes, Mama Cat? Did you need Me?” She became a little sheepish at first, but then she spoke in a soft voice and said, “Umm… my guardians were talking about today being Christmas, and I just wanted to tell all of you guys ‘Merry Christmas’.” I said, “Thanks so much Mama Cat! Merry Christmas to you, Nacho, Cookie and your guardians too!”

Mama thanked Me, but she still sat in the window looking a little anxious, so I asked her if there was anything else. She said, “Well, I have a Christmas wish.” I asked her if it was for all kitties to be happy, healthy and safely confined. She said, “Ummmm…I have TWO Christmas wishes.” I told her that maybe she should just tell Me what the wishes are. She said, “Well, the first is, of course, what you just said. Yeah. Totally that’s my first wish. But my second wish is… errrr… my second wish is that you will heal completely from your surgery and have a pain-free new year.”

I was touched by Mama’s wish, and I thanked her for her kindness. She said, “You’re very welcome Leader Otis.”, and then she disappeared from the window. I can’t be certain, but I almost thought I heard her talking to herself as she moved away. It kind of sounded like she said, “Because then maybe we can finally have the Catlympics…” I can’t be sure though.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Seasons Greetings or, if you prefer,  just plain Happy Day to all of you, My Disciples!

It’s Catsmas!

My Disciples,

It’s December 24, also known as Catsmas! To review:

If you don’t know exactly when your cat was born, celebrate his or her birthday on December 24.  Yeah, I know that cats aren’t generally born in December, but chances are your cat doesn’t know this. Plus, I’ve heard that a few non-cat based religions have major holidays in December, and I don’t want any cats to be forgotten or left out in the cold during all the celebrations at this time of year.  So decorate a cat tree with cat-friendly ornaments, give your cat a snuggle if you find him or her standing under a sprig of catnip and, if your cat has been a good boy or girl, prepare for a visit from Santa Claws!

Speaking of Santa Claws, this year, it was Brother Oliver’s turn to play him. As you can see, he was thrilled!

Meowy Catsmas Everybody!

My Disciples,

Catsmas has arrived!  Since kitties should not be treated as commodities to be bought and sold,  the responsible way to obtain a cat is through adoption or rescue.  But when you adopt or rescue a cat, you very seldom know his or her date of birth!  How will you know when to celebrate your kitty’s birthday if you don’t know when that is!?  That’s what Catsmas is all about!

If you don’t know exactly when your cat was born, celebrate his or her birthday on December 24.  Yeah, I know that cats aren’t generally born in December, but chances are your cat doesn’t know this. This year we nominated Brother Henry to play the part of Santa Claws.  He was thrilled to have been chosen!

Brother Henry was sooooo happy to don the Santa Claws hat. Doesn't he look happy!?

So go enjoy some delicious catnip nog and celebrate the birth of your feline friends.  Then, get out there and stock up on cardboard containers for Box Day on December 26!

Meowy Catsmas to all, and to all a good night…until we wake you up really early in the morning so you can make our breakfast.
