Rough Days

Disciples of The Leader Otis,

Brother Henry here.

Thomas and Brother Oliver both asked me to pass along their apologies for the recent silence here on The Blog of Otis. I apologize as well, but I also assure you that there is good reason for the lack of posts. You see, we are only one week away from an extremely difficult anniversary, and we are having a difficult time coping with the weight of that day. Poor Sir Thomas has withdrawn a bit and has been spending his time moping on the steps to Kitty Valhalla. He says he would go all the way up to Valhalla to mope, but he’s still a little freaked out about the place after the events of a few weeks ago.

Thomas withdrawn

Thomas is moping on the steps to Valhalla because he is too freaked out to mope in actual Valhalla.

Brother Henry and I have been doing our best to support Thomas, but we’ve also been supporting one another as we pass through some very rough days. We’ve had our squabbles as Brothers always do, but right now we are finding great comfort in each other’s company knowing that we are both going through the exact same range of emotions.

Henry and Oliver supporting each other

Brother Oliver and I have been supporting one another. We both know the other understands.

So again, sorry for the silence, but perhaps a moment of silence is perfectly appropriate given the circumstances. We will certainly not be silent on October 28th… the day the anniversary arrives. As hard as it will be, on that day we will pick ourselves up and say what needs to be said. I hope you will join us.

So Says Brother Henry

Sending all my love to you sweet boys and to the Guardians on this upcoming sad anniversary. Thank you for continuing to spread The Good Word, I’m sure the Leader smiles down upon all of us.

  2. We are sending all of you purrs. And poor Sir Thomas…lost his moping spot.

  3. We also know that date. But the Leader’s request to Be The Miracle motivated my guardians to give a home to Sage my Panther sister He is still very present in our hearts.

  4. Purrs… Anniversaries like this are never easy.

It is so hard to be reminded of such a heartfelt loss by the calendar. While we do our best to follow Leader Otis’s teachings everyday, on this anniversary we will renew our commitment to “be the miracle”.

We will never know the full extent of your loss, but I know that we stand behind you in your sorrow. Brother Henry, please continue with the group comforting – especially for the Guardians.

  8. Sending lots of love from everyone here at Peace, Love & Whiskers. Though we have been silent, our thoughts & purrs are with you through this difficult time. Head bumps & Purrs

Leader Otis is the reason I rescued Stella the lost black kitty, who was subsequently reunited with her owner. He’s the miracle who continues to inspire miracles. My sympathy and love to the Brothers, Sir Thomas, and the Guardians, who took Otis in and gave him such a wonderful (full of wonders) life.

  10. My heart is heavy for you. Each month that passes without our sweet papa is heart-wrenching, and we mourn with you. Papa and Otis and Mama Cat will always be part of our lives.

We will be thinking of all of you as this difficult anniversary approaches. We thought of Otis very recently when my mom rescued a tiny kitten from a parking lot, and got her into our local no-kill shelter. Otis (and Mama Cat) will live in our hearts always.

  14. We feel as though we are always holding paws with you all. Remembering the joy and beauty, accepting the loss- admiring the strength in continuing. We don’t really speak cat, but…..purrs and head bumps.

I feel for you three sweet mancats and the Guardians as The Leader’s passing was difficult for me too. His illness being similar to the one I was born with brought on many issues I have to face and how remarkable of a legacy one amazing cat once lost in limbo changed people and the world for the better.
This year has been a difficult one with many friends from the webosphere going to the Bridge, and then the loss of my own special needs ladycat Ms. Phoebe in January.
I along with many around the world will be thinking of your family on the 28th and our hearts honoring our beloved Leader who inspires us everyday to continue his mission. Purrs of love and support from our family to yours. 💙💋😽🌈

Before heading into work I wanted to let you all know I’m thinking about each of you today! I send my deepest sympathy but I’m also very thankful that I got to “know” the leader. He left a huge legacy behind of folks who are determined to keep cats safe and healthy. I can’t thank him enough for that and his message still carries on today.

    • Thank you so much, Heather. We are all really missing Him today, but it helps to know that He is remembered fondly by so many out there, and that his message really has helped other cats in need. – Brother Henry

  18. There is much gained in silence. Soft cheek pats sent to each by the RC Cat of this Realm
