It’s Toastitron Time…But One Kitty No Longer Needs One

My Disciples,

If you live in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere like we do (Brother Oliver told Me we do, anyway), the days are now getting shorter and colder. It’s time to fire up the Toastitrons for all of the kitties that are still out there in Limbo or in The Shadows. If you don’t have any Toastitrons, they are very easy to build! I wish Toastitrons weren’t necessary, but as long as there are some humans that still think it is fine to leave cats outside, these poor kitties will need all the extra help they can get. The Limbo kitties in our neighborhood sure have used them over the years.

Whisper in Toastitron

Many Limbo and Shadow kitties have used the Toastitron in our yard over the years, including Whisper.

Mama Cat always refused to go into the Toastitron, even though she clearly needed the warmth. That is why the Guardians eventually built her the Mama Snuggle Shack 3000.  But you know what? She doesn’t have to worry about things like where she can go to stay warm anymore. Nope, now she has the ultimate Snuggle Shack.

Mama Cat no longer needs the Mama Snuggle Shack 3000.

Actually, that sight is so beautiful, let’s look at it again. Winter is coming but Mama Cat is happy, healthy, and safely confined.

It’s a beautiful sight. Let’s look at it again.

I wish every single cat could be so lucky, but I know it will take a lot of time and a lot of changed minds to turn this wish into reality. My Disciples, I hope that you will all continue to do everything you can to make the world a better, safer place for kitties, and that you will spread The Good Word far and wide to help us in our crusade to keep kitties happy, healthy and safely confined.

  1. Bless the Guardians for all they do (which is more than most of us can even understand). You have taught them well, Otis.

  2. We had a Toastitron for our stray, Henry–but he was adopted by the family up the street! Hopefully it will remain vacant this winter…

    HURRAH for Mama Cat!

    • Heather

Oh my, I had wondered about poor ole Henry as you haven’t mentioned him in your blog the last year or so. I am thrilled that he got a home! I was so afraid something had happened to him. You guys were awesome for taking such good care of him while he needed the help!

    • And HURRAH for Henry, Katnip Lounge! That’s so exciting that he found a home! 🙂

  3. we are glad Mama Cat is inside and also very glad that your Toastitron is fired up for those kitties that need it.

  4. SO relieved that Momma Cat no longer needs a Toastitron or Snuggle Shack! Her in the window is indeed a beautiful sight!

    • We are all very relieved, Andrea. The Guardians were very upset when they saw her with that grass seed in her eye, but they are very happy that the end result was a safely confined, and very well loved Mama Cat. 🙂

  5. Timely post. Wishing warmth and comfort to all paws

  6. If there were a Nobel Prize for Goodness, I’d award it to Your Guardians, Leader Otis.

    • And they would probably say there are others more deserving, Rhinannon. The just do what they can and try to encourage others to do the same. I know they appreciate your saying this though. 🙂

  7. Heather

Leader Otis, did Mama’s old guardians ever check on her? Do they know she is there? Is Cookie still okay?

I live in the south where it stays relatively warm year round, however I do open up our garage for all shadow and limbo kitties and doggies who need help with inclement weather. Amazingly, they all get along while in there! We have a very affordable spay/neuter clinic nearby and it is disheartening that there are still so many shadow kitties around.

    • Heather, the Guardians told Mama’s old guardian what happened to her eye, and that she now lives with them. They told him he can visit her whenever he would like, but so far he has not done so. Cookie is still under Mama’s old guardian’s care, although she too is often neglected by him. The Guardians make sure she is fed, and has warm retreats from the weather, but they wish they could send her to a home where she would be forever safely confined. 😦

      • Heather

What?!?! That is outrageous! Any normal person would’ve acted totally differently. Like apologize for the neglect and explain things. Ask for advice. Refund you for the vet bill plus interest and thank you for the help. And demand that you return that sweet girl right NOW! He must be really dense not to see how special Mama Cat is. How can he not miss her? Maybe Sir Thomas should explain a thing or two to him.

Thank goodness your guardians stepped in and you fellas are willing to share your domain with such a talented ladycat.

  8. What a great idea for Shadow & Limbo kitties…I have big totes here I could line with towels & then palce food in….excellent!!
    Whisper is gorgeous.
Momma Cat looks wonderful & safe & happy to be safe indoors.

  9. Do MC’s old guardians ever come over to visit her? Are they thankful that the cult of otis took over her care? I’m just curious, this post made me think about it a bit.

    • MC’s old guardian has asked about her exactly once, Smash. The Guardians of Otis have made it clear that he can visit her whenever he would like, but he has not taken them up on the offer. He still has Cookie, although she is often shut out of the house and takes refuge in the Guardians’ cold frame. The Guardians are currently weighing options for her, but she cannot live in the same house as Mama as the two are bitter enemies. 😦

      • That’s too bad, but at least MC’s finally in a home where she’s appreciated. Hopefully things work out for Cookie as well. Thanks for the update and for caring so much. We need more people like your guardians in the world 🙂

  10. Mama Cat looks so regal…

  11. How much more serene does Mama cat look…what a great thing to do..we have no Limbo kitties here..all kitties are in homes I must assume as we never see any..oh apart from the farm across from us’s kitty who chases an occasional bunny to over here..much to our girls great disgust! hugs Fozziemum x

    • Fozziemum… I am very pleased to hear that you never see Limbo Kitties in your area. I wish that was the case everywhere! 🙂

      • I do too! where we used to live it was terrible..i always got them and took them to my shelter..this led to volunteering as a foster mum there…I used to put really smelly food out to catch them…I lost count in the end of the amount I saved…and dogs too..i never saw so many wander the streets..i had a lead and collars in the car at all times and treats..and cat cages..i don’t get it..i would have a stroke if I thought my babies were out there!! the girls have a wander here but we have so much land and I can spot them at all times, they are not allowed out in summer due to snakes and they have a dusk to dawn curfew for them and the wildlife..there are Farm cats who spend their time always outside in rural areas..they hunt the mice and the farmers usually always keep them outside..they sleep in warm barns and get well fed and spayed but their whole job is mousing…the ones I have come across are well loved and looked after just always outside..different in the country I suppose..i would still bring them in 😉

  12. We adopted Miss P. around this time of year, the day after her foster mama decided that she would always be safely confined.

  13. Nothing makes us happier than seeing Mama Cat safe and warm inside….well, maybe seeing every cat safe and warm inside would make us happier than that.
