Disciples of Otis,
Brother Oliver here. Long time Disciples are likely aware of Brother Henry’s challenges with Kitty Body Awareness Deficit Syndrome (KBADS). Well, it seems like Brother Henry might be experiencing a flare up of the dreaded disorder. Last night, I walked out into The Leader’s Outdoor Domain to find Brother Henry standing with his two front paws in a box.
I asked Brother Henry what he was doing and he replied, “I thought I heard a dog barking earlier, so I came out here to look for any potential LFDU activity. I didn’t see any sign of The Mongrel Horde, but I did find this awesome box! It’s very spacious, and there is so much room for activities!” To demonstrate his point, Brother Henry stood up, shifted positions and stretched… all the while keeping his front paws firmly planted in the box.
After stretching, Brother Henry sat back down and said, “So I like the roominess of the box, but there’s one thing about it that is weird. Even though the bottom of the box looks pretty uniform, half of it is nice and smooth, and the other half is very rough. I don’t know why. It’s probably one of those weird optical delusions or whatever they’re called…”
Brother Henry is a very sensitive kitty. I really didn’t want to point out that he was having a KBADS moment as I knew it would embarrass him. I know I don’t normally pass up a chance to make a good joke, but I know Brother Henry is powerless against this affliction. Making fun of him for it would just be mean. Instead, I said, “That sure does sound like a strange box, Brother Henry. Maybe I’ll have to give it a sit sometime to experience the weirdness for myself.” Then I got up and headed back inside.
As I left, I heard Brother Henry say, “Yes! You should definitely try it sometime… but I recommend sitting on the smooth side. I’m finding that the rough end of the box is quite chafing on the bum…” I waited until I was all the way inside, and well out of earshot for Brother Henry, before I fell into a fit of uncontrollable laughter.
So Sayeth Brother Oliver
Poor Brother Henry. One of my 6 — Buddy, seems to suffer from the same affliction. He is a Maine Coon rescue; however, he has no idea of his size. I often find him attempting to squeeze himself into small spaces and/or boxes. However, I never knew there was a name for this affliction.
Yes. Quite a few kitties seem to suffer with KBADS, GAL. It is a devastating affliction! – Brother Oliver
We were MOL on that last part too!
Just don’t let Brother Henry hear you, Cherry City Kitties! – Brother Oliver
Can’t help giggling…RC Cat has the opposite condition – she can have all the room in the world, but sometimes bunches her feet all together – looking like a ballon with the end tied tight with yarn. It apparently is her signal she is displeased with the surface. Staff really shouldn’t laugh.
No… staff should never laugh, Phil. But Kitties can laugh all they want. 🙂

Poor brother henry. Hopefully one day there will be a cure.
I sure hope so, PLEW! 🙂 – Brother Oliver
ROFLMFTO. oh brother Henry….so sad, so sad….*snicker*
Yes… we really shouldn’t laugh, Savannah… 😉 – Brother Oliver
Maybe Brother Henry knows he can’t fit in the box, but still wants to sit in it. He’s literally divided.
I would believe that if I didn’t see him stand with his front feet in the litter box and his back feet out of the litter box and then pee on the floor. Then he turns around and looks shocked like he can’t figure out who peed on the floor. This is before the Potty Pod 3000 mind you. He definitely has KBADS, Pezcita! – Brother Oliver
poor Brother Henry…. 🙂
Yes. Poor Brother H. 🙂 – Brother Oliver
Yeah, even we couldn’t control our laughter!
Just don’t let Brother Henry hear you, Island Cats! – Brother Oliver
Poor Brother Henry the KBADS…hmmm could be worse I suppose he could have been doing some weird interpretive dance move..then he would have the K-FEDS …he may be practicing for the winter Olympics and the ski team..or he may just be being a dill 😉 Hugs to you Brother Oliver and the sadly afflicted Brother Henry 🙂 Fozziemum
Thanks Fozziemum. 🙂 – Brother Oliver
Most welcome 🙂
Poor Henry! Perhaps he should turn around and put his chaffing behind where his forepaws are, just to alleviate the issues from the odd box! hee hee
