Mama Had Mats

My Disciples,

Mama Cat showed up at our house with some really bad mats in her hair. The Guardians comforted her and took a closer look. They then realized that the mats were bad enough that they would need to be cut out.

Mama's Mats 1

Mama had mats in her hair that were pretty bad. They had to be cut out. The Guardians comforted her while they groomed her.

Once the mats were gone, Mama felt better, she rolled around on the table as if she was relieved that they were no longer pulling at her skin.

Mama's Mats 2

Mama felt better after the mats were removed. She rolled around in celebration.

After rolling around a little bit, Mama suddenly realized that, although she was relieved, she was feeling a cool breeze on her neck. I think she was a little bit embarrassed that her mane was not what it used to be.

Mama's Mats 3

Mama felt a little self-conscious when she realized her mane was now in disarray.

The Guardians comforted her some more, and she seemed to get over her self-consciousness. They also told her that they would check in with her people. They usually don’t let Mama get mats like that, so something must be amiss. I have confidence that the Guardians will get to the bottom of it.

  1. Poor Mama cat. She deserves to be well taken care of.

  2. Thank you Guardians for caring so much for my sweet mamma cat. She is so precious and deserves much better treatment especially as she is an older kitty I think. Reassure her her gorgeous mane will grow back

  3. Once again, Otis, your Guardians demonstrate true guardian behavior. Please give them extra snuggles and head bumps for their kindness.

  4. A stray showed up at my house a few years ago…she was also an older cat and looked just like Mama…also had to cut out the mats in her beautiful coat…never did find out who she belonged to or what had happened to her…ended up adopting her…she only lived a couple more years, but at least we kept her safe inside for her remaining time.

  5. Many Purrs to Mama Kitty..

  6. Thank you Guardians for being such incredible, loving, caring people! Mama cat and all other kitties are very lucky to have you all! x

  7. Poor Mama cat! I hope your humans find time in their busy schedule to brush you every day after this. Priestess Jen and Miss P are shorthairs and don’t need to be brushed every day, but we brush them anyway because it helps with feline/human bonding. Precious will even sit on mom’s lap to be brushed – a rarity for her.

    • The Brothers and I get brushed every day too, even though they have short hair and I have medium hair. Thomas has long hair, and the Guardians are hoping that he will eventually trust them enough to let them brush him. So far though, he’s only OK with occasional pets…

  8. Aw, poor Momma Cat! I hope her people start combing her more. Mats are aweful!

  9. So glad you were able to help her!!!!

Otis, do you think your Guardians could be cloned?

  11. Poor sweet Mama Cat. Since Mama Cat normally doesn’t get in such poor condition we will hope her people are alright. We also want to thank the Guardians for being there and caring for Mama Cat.

  12. Poor Mama. It must be spring. Mat attack time. So glad Mama sought help. Thank you Guardians of helpless kitties

  13. Poor Mama Cat. It was nice of the Guardians to get rid of those mats for her.

Mats or no mats…I still have a crush on Mama Cat! Actually I have WAY more mats than Mama. In fact, as a purebred Siberian currently in my full bloom winter triple coat AND admittedly being a Terrible Bobcat when it comes to grooming, I am now destined to visit an official cat groomer tomorrow. My humans have warned me I may end up with a so-called quasi lion-cut. They try and try to brush me but I growl and slash when they try so now this : ( And I am an indoor cat!
