My Disciples,
Even though I don’t spend any time out in our garden during the spring and summer I enjoy watching the bees, birds and other animals that visit it while I remain safely inside My house or enclosure. Because I spend so much time enjoying the garden, when I found one of the Guardians trying to work out her garden plans this morning I decided to chip in and help! Plus, well, there was a brush sitting right there on the pad of paper so I thought that maybe I could help her and then she could help Me!.

When I discovered that one of the Guardians was working on garden plans, I decided to help her… and hoped for some brushes out of the deal.
So the first thing I did was grab the pencil and get it properly situated between My front legs. Now I was ready to work. I closed My eyes and concentrated hard on the brush… I mean plan! I concentrated on the brushing plan… I mean GARDEN plan.
When I opened My eyes to see what plans I had created, nothing had changed. I looked at the pad of paper in disbelief. Was all of that concentration for nothing?
Then I looked up and noticed that the Guardian was no longer around. Then I figured it out. The pencil must have been defective so she left to go get one that worked.
I waited for a good 45 seconds for her to come back, but then the effort of My recent, intense concentration caught up with Me and I fell asleep. I awoke to the soothing feel of a brush being run down the length of My body. I looked beside Me and saw that the paper pad now had a completed garden plan on it. It looked really good! I was impressed with Myself considering I must have drawn up the plan in My sleep. The Guardian must have been impressed too, because she was rewarding Me well by giving Me a good brushing. As I drifted back to sleep due to the intense relaxation brought on by the brushing, I had one final thought. “You’re welcome.”
So Sayeth Otis,

My Cassie also enjoys assisting with such paperwork when I get a pen out. I will have to see if she can work on a garden plan for me as wisely as you, Leader Otis.
We cats are the best at helping, Amy J!
Well, Leader Otis, this is the life of a Kitteh. We just GIVE and GIVE and GIVE and then we become so exhausted that we must needs sleep for a little. At least YOUR Human seems grateful. Sigh.
You summed it up very nicely, Spitty!
Concentrating hard is such exhausting work! But you did good, Leader Otis.
Thanks Island Cats! I tried My hardest to help.
Otis, you’re a dream gardener! Now that’s awesome! That brush looks cool too! I bet it feels wonderful!
It does, Andrea! And it really gets rid of My excess fur nicely!
It’s nice to see another kitty helping out his human. I help the HuMom whenever she has bills to pay or notes to write. Hitch and Pumpkin are big helps to our boy/man with his homework. Sometimes he even turns in projects covered in cat hair. We know that helps improve his grade. Imagine, all spring and summer you’ll be able to look at the garden and know the Guardian could have never done it without you.
Purrs to you
Mistletoe & Hitch
I know, M and H. I can’t wait! Oh, and so nice of you to help your boy/man with his homework and get him extra credit by decorating it!
Oh, it’s been oddly warm and so nice this week – it’s been hard to keep from getting started with the gardening…but we know this game…a really cold freeze will arrive and catch everything by surprise. So resisting. Best stay with pad and pencil and catalogue a little while longer
The Guardians have been planning with pad and pencil (with My help, of course) but also building these little greenhouse thingies. I think they are going to try to plant early and still fend off the freeze!
